It's The First Week of August
As we enter the first week of August, back-to-school season is right around the corner, and the first hints of Fall are just on the horizon. We are coming off an incredible week of ministry here at LHF, and God is continuing to move in a big way. Take a look below at everything that happened over the weekend and what we have coming up this week—you won't want to miss out on what's ahead!
Kids Had a Blast at "Party With The Pastors"
This past Saturday, our kids and youth invaded Pastor Chris and Connie’s house for a full day of adventure, laughter, and learning about God’s love. Party With The Pastors gave our kids a true one-day camp experience complete with hiking, canoeing, horseback riding, and outdoor games.
Although rain was in the forecast, God cleared the skies long enough for us to enjoy the entire day outdoors! Our theme for the event was "Happy Trails," based on Psalm 1. We explored how God calls us to walk on the path where He is—the path that leads to true life.
One of the sweetest parts of the day was seeing our teens step up to leadership. Every child was paired with a teen buddy for the day, fostering deep bonds across generations. A huge thank you to our youth for leading with love and energy!
Sunday Worship Recap: The Roadmap of Repentance
We experienced a sweet time of worship together on Sunday morning. Pastor Derek continued our study on repentance from Psalm 51, where King David provides a spiritual roadmap of what true repentance looks like.
Ultimately, true repentance leads to restoration with God, strengthening our relationship with Him, and giving us boldness in our witness and power in our praise. Pastor Derek left us with this comforting truth to anchor our week:
"God desires restoration with us more than we desire it with Him."
What a peaceful reminder for any time we have strayed—God is always waiting with open arms to restore us when we return!
Note: We experienced some minor technical issues with our livestream audio on Sunday. Our team is working on resolving the issue so we can publish this week's message to our podcast and YouTube channel soon.
Diggles Family Concert Delivered an Incredible Night
On Sunday evening, LHF had the privilege of hosting The Diggles Family in concert. Doug blessed us with his accomplished bass vocals, and his daughter, Catherine, showcased her incredible musical talents by playing 8 different instruments (out of the 20+ she plays!) throughout the night. It was an uplifting evening of worship and praise.
THIS WEEK'S EVENTS
Wednesday, August 5 @ 6:30 PM — Boys 2 Men & Girls 2 Women
Our mentorship groups meet at the church this Wednesday evening. As part of their time together, the boys will be completing a service project to help beautify the church landscaping. Parents: Please keep an eye on the Band App for specific updates and details.
Thursday, August 6 — UP: 24 Hours of Unceasing Prayer (All Day)
LHF claims the first Thursday of every month to intercede for our city. Join us throughout the day as we lift up the churches, ministries, and families of Central Kentucky, praying that they will be strengthened and that the light of the gospel will shine brightly in our community.
Friday, August 7 @ 7:00 AM — Men's Bible Study
Men, join us at Panera Bread in Brannon Crossing as we continue our verse-by-verse study through the book of Acts. Bring your Bible and grab a coffee!
Saturday, August 8 @ 8:30 AM — Joint Men's Prayer Breakfast
Crosswoods Baptist Church is hosting a special unity prayer breakfast, and the men of LHF are invited! Pastors Chris and Derek have participated in a Pastors Unity Prayer Group with local pastors for the past couple of years. This breakfast is the first event of its kind, bringing the men of these different congregations together to pray for Christian unity in our region.
Interested in attending? Please contact Pastor Chris or Pastor Derek this week so we can get an accurate count.
LOOKING AHEAD: MARK YOUR CALENDARS
Saturday, August 22 (12:00 PM – 3:00 PM) | Grace Drive Community Block Party
We are stepping out to love our neighbors on Grace Drive! We need volunteers to help set up inflatables and games, as well as team members to grill hot dogs. Let's serve our community together!
Sunday, August 30 | LHF Women's Banquet
The men of LHF are hosting a special banquet to honor and celebrate the women of our church. Ladies, prepare for an evening of fine dining and top-tier entertainment! Men, stay tuned for details on how you can help serve that night.
THIS WEEK'S PRAYER LIST
