What a full weekend of ministry, worship, and fellowship. From the laughter of kids at the Grace Drive Block Party to the sound of the church gathered in worship on Sunday, the Lord gave us many reasons to be thankful.
This issue of LHF This Week looks back at a great weekend and looks ahead to several important moments coming soon. There is a men’s Bible study this Friday, the LHF Women’s Banquet this Sunday evening, and the 25th anniversary celebration now just a few weeks away.
Saturday’s Grace Drive Block Party was a joyful day of outreach
Our property was jumping with excitement on Saturday as we welcomed neighbors from Grace Drive for a neighborhood block party. It was a beautiful picture of simple, faithful outreach, the kind that starts with open doors, warm food, and a willingness to meet people where they are.
Inflatables and games filled the property with energy. The grill stayed busy serving hotdogs, and there was plenty more to enjoy with popcorn, sno-cones, and other treats. Kids played, adults visited, and the whole street showed out in a meaningful way.
We saw over 35 kids and adults stop by throughout the event. That number matters, but so do the conversations behind it. We had the chance to meet new neighbors, strengthen existing connections, and continue building trust in the community around us.
A big thank-you goes to everyone who helped make the day happen. Events like this take planning, setup, food prep, cleanup, hospitality, and a lot of willing hands. Every part mattered.
More than anything, Saturday helped us keep living out the vision of loving our neighbors well. Sometimes that love looks like a sermon, a prayer, or a Bible study. Sometimes it looks like hotdogs on the grill, kids laughing on inflatables, and a friendly conversation under the summer sun.
Sunday worship reminded us to stand in awe of God
Sunday brought another good worship service as we gathered together as God’s family. There was a strong spirit of worship in the room, and the morning gave us space to lift our eyes from the busyness of life and fix them again on the Lord.
Pastor Derek returned to Psalm 27 as part of our Summer in the Psalms series. This week’s focus was on the awesome nature of our God.
Psalm 27 gives us a rich picture of who God is and why his people can trust him. His salvation, presence, beauty, and goodness are not small ideas. They are truths that should stir awe in every heart.
We were reminded that God is not merely helpful or comforting, though he is certainly both. He is glorious. He is worthy. He is the one who saves, draws near, reveals beauty, and shows goodness to his people.
That kind of truth should shape how we worship and how we live. It should make us more prayerful, more confident, and more eager to seek the Lord.
Next Sunday, we will wrap up the Summer in the Psalms series. Plan to be present as we close out this journey through a beloved part of God’s Word.
Men’s Bible Study meets this Friday morning
Men’s Bible Study will meet this Friday at 7:00 a.m. at Panera in Brannon Crossing.
The group will continue its study through the book of Acts. This has been a meaningful time to read Scripture, talk through the life and mission of the early church, and encourage one another in faithful discipleship.
All men are welcome. Whether you have been part of the study for a while or are thinking about coming for the first time, this is a good week to join in.
The LHF Women’s Banquet is this Sunday evening
Ladies, the LHF Women’s Banquet is coming up this Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
This will be an evening of fine dining and entertainment, hosted by the LHF Men’s Ministry. It is a special opportunity to enjoy fellowship, encouragement, and a night prepared with care.
Mark the time, make plans to attend, and come ready for a good evening together. These shared moments are part of the joy of life in the church family. They give us time to talk, laugh, connect, and celebrate the Lord’s kindness.
Our 25th anniversary celebration is coming soon
Our 25th anniversary is not far away. On October 4, we will celebrate 25 years of the Lord’s goodness and faithfulness during a special worship service that morning.
This is more than a date on the calendar. It is a chance to look back with gratitude and look ahead with faith. Twenty-five years is a reminder that the Lord has carried his church through many seasons. He has provided, guided, corrected, sustained, and blessed.
That evening, we will gather at the Major’s for our Fall Fellowship Party. It will be a fitting way to continue the celebration together after the morning service.

Prayer needs for this week

Pray for Janet as she comes home from the hospital this week. Ask the Lord for continued healing, strength, and peace.
Chris Shepherd
Pray for Chris as surgery is scheduled for this Thursday. Ask the Lord for a successful procedure, wisdom for the medical team, and a smooth recovery.
Looking ahead with thankfulness
This past weekend gave us a clear reminder of what the Lord is doing among us. We saw neighbors welcomed, conversations started, worship lifted, and Scripture opened. We also have fresh opportunities this week to gather, study, serve, celebrate, and pray.
Let’s keep loving our neighbors well, caring for one another faithfully, and looking to the Lord with awe. The same God whose salvation, presence, beauty, and goodness filled Psalm 27 is still leading and sustaining his people today.
