Enjoying August Before It's Gone

Welcome to the last edition of LHF This Week for August! It looks like we'll be getting a break from the heat with some cooler weather this week. It's a perfect lead-in to what's shaping up to be an exciting September at LHF, with a ton of great events on the horizon. Don't miss out on what's happening this week, as we have Bible studies planned for our men, women, and youth. Be sure to check the calendar for all the details.

Sunday Recap

This past Sunday was another amazing time of worship. We had great attendance, and it was wonderful to see some new faces with us as we celebrated the Lord's goodness together. The worship was inspiring, and we heard some wonderful praise reports. Pastor Derek's message from Luke 20 reminded us of the unmatched and unrivaled authority of Christ. He shared how many in Jesus' day, especially the religious leaders, questioned His authority because they couldn't surrender their own will to Him. This is a basic struggle for all of us. No matter our questions, resistance, or attempts to ignore Him, God is sovereign and in control. We find true freedom only when we surrender our will to Him, and it is always for our good. If you missed the message, you can catch it on our website, Facebook, or YouTube.

This Week's Events

We have a number of opportunities to connect with one another and grow in our faith this week.

  • Women's Bible Study: Our women will meet on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Front Foyer Classroom at the church. They are currently studying Francis Chan's book, "Crazy Love." All women are welcome!

  • LHF Youth: The youth group will meet this Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Jamal and Brittany Rayan's home in Nicholasville. Pastors Chris and Derek will be joining them to discuss a service opportunity related to the upcoming Party with the Pastors event. We hope to see you all there!

  • Men's Bible Study: The men's group will have their weekly Bible study this Friday at 7:00 a.m. at Panera in Brannon Crossing. The guys are currently studying the book of Acts, the only book of history in the New Testament. It's sure to be an inspiring time together.

Party With The Pastors

Hey kids and parents, an awesome day of fun and faith with Pastors Chris and Derek isn't far away! We'll kick off the day at 9 a.m. with a kids' worship session, followed by a day of crafts, games, fishing, canoeing, and much more. It's a day you won't want to miss! This event is for kids ages 5-11, and 3-4 year olds are welcome with a parent chaperone. Oh yeah, we'll have some great food too! Make sure you sign up on our website.

Have A Peaceful Week

As we go about our week, let's remember that no matter the circumstances we face, we can find our rest and peace in God. He is with us through every challenge and every joy. We are reminded of this in Philippians 4:7, which says, "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." May you experience His peace in abundance this week.
