LHF This Week: May 10-17, 2026

Welcome to a brand new edition of LHF This Week — your place to stay connected and up to date with everything happening around Living Hope! We hope you’ve had a wonderful start to your week and that you’re enjoying this beautiful spring season. We also want to take a moment to wish all of our moms a very happy belated Mother’s Day! We pray Sunday was a special day filled with love, encouragement, and appreciation for all the ways you faithfully serve and care for your families and others. In this issue, we’re looking ahead to the second half of our series through the book of Ruth, Senior Lunch, Blessing Sunday, and much more happening around the church family.

Sunday Wrap-Up

We had a wonderful worship service on Sunday as we gathered together to worship the Lord for His goodness and His faithfulness. We also heard encouraging testimonies from several people sharing how God has been working in their lives recently.

Pastor Derek continued our series through the book of Ruth. Every great love story — especially in movies — has what people call “the meet-cute.” It’s that first encounter between two people where everyone realizes they’re destined to be part of one another’s story. Ruth chapter 2 gives us that moment between Ruth and Boaz.

But this seemingly chance meeting is far more than just a dramatic moment in a love story. This meeting lays the foundation for the family line that would eventually produce Jesus, the Messiah. In many ways, this meeting affects all of us who believe today.

Pastor Derek showed how Boaz serves as a picture of Jesus through the kindness, grace, and acceptance he extends to Ruth — a Moabite widow in desperate need of safety and provision. Ruth represents every person born in sin, standing on the outside looking in at the Kingdom of God. Naomi pictures the person who has wandered from the Lord, yet is being lovingly drawn back through God’s mercy and lovingkindness.

If you missed Sunday’s message, you can catch up through our podcast, on our website, or on YouTube.

What’s Going On This Week?

Tuesday — Senior Lunch

Our seniors — and anyone who would like to join — are invited to meet at the church at 11:00am to ride the bus to the Winchester Golden Corral for lunch together. Contact Susan Adkins with any questions.

Friday — Men’s Bible Study

Men are invited to join the continuing discussion as we work our way through the book of Acts together. We meet at 7:00am at Panera Bread in Brannon Crossing.

The Swanson and Gill families proudly invite you to attend the graduation ceremony honoring Amisha Swanson and Vivian and Isaac Gill at 10:00am at the church. We are very proud of these students and all they have accomplished!

Baby Bottle Blessings Kicked Off Sunday

Assurance Pregnancy Center’s annual Baby Bottle Blessings fundraiser began on Mother’s Day and runs through Father’s Day. Supporters are encouraged to fill baby bottles with spare change, cash, or checks to help provide pre- and post-natal care for families experiencing crisis pregnancies.

To learn more, visit assurancecare.com or speak with Amy Holt or Dr. Shawn Campbell at church for additional details.

It’s time to begin organizing for youth camp! Please see Jamal or Brittany Rayan to get the registration forms needed for this year’s camp.

There are also opportunities available to help sponsor students through scholarships if you feel led to give.

Blessing Sunday Around the Corner

This year:

  • 50% of the offering will go toward resurfacing our church parking lot.

  • 50% will support missions needs and projects.

Following the morning service, we’ll enjoy a celebration cookout together with great food, fellowship, and fun for the whole church family!

As always, thank you for being such an important part of the Living Hope family. We pray you have a joyful and encouraging week ahead filled with opportunities to see God’s goodness at work in your life. Stay safe, stay connected, and we look forward to worshiping together again this Sunday!
