As the final, crisp week of October sweeps in, bringing with it the scent of pumpkin spice and the brilliant hues of fall foliage, we greet you with another edition of LHF This Week! We hope you're bundling up and enjoying the season as we move into November. It's been a truly wonderful season of ministry, and we are looking forward to what God has in store as we turn the calendar page.
Weekend Wrap-up
We had another great time of worship this past Sunday. There was a wonderful spirit in the worship service! While we had several members away, either sick or traveling, we still had a wonderful crowd, including some first-time and returning guests. God is truly blessing LHF in this current season of ministry!
Pastor Derek preached from Luke 23, as we looked at Luke's account of the crucifixion of Christ. We all know well that Jesus gave His life on the cross for the sins of humanity that day, but Pastor Derek showed us there was so much more taking place. We examined Jesus' response of concern and warning to the grieving women, along with His meekness in the face of being reviled, rejected, and mocked. We also saw His graciousness to redeem the thief on the cross. Christ's behavior in the midst of his greatest pain and suffering is a powerful lesson for all of us who follow Him—a call to emulate Christ in selflessness and compassion.
If you missed church or would like to check out the message again, you can find it on YouTube, Facebook, or audio on our Website.
Coming Up
Here are a few things to put on your calendar this week:
Men's Bible Study: This Friday morning at 7 a.m. at Panera in Brannon Crossing. We are currently studying the book of Acts.
Elders' Annual Review Retreat: This Saturday, our Elders will meet. Please pray for them as they seek guidance and wisdom for the year ahead.
A New Year of Service is Almost Upon Us!
As Pastor Chris and Pastor Derek mentioned at the service on Sunday, our annual Vision Sunday is only a couple of weeks away on November 9th! That is the time of year when we make known some of the service opportunities available around the church for the upcoming year.
If you served in a leadership or ministry position in 2025, be on the lookout for a text message this week asking you to fill out a service intent form for 2026.
If you are interested in stepping in to service in the ministry in 2026, please reach out to one of the Pastors!
We're excited to see how God moves as we enter the new year of ministry!
Enjoy A Great Christmas Concert with One of LHF's Own!
We are so grateful at LHF to have many talented singers and musicians. One of our worship leaders, Rob Coffey, will be performing this year with the Lexington Singers in their annual Christmas Concert at Singletary Center this Sunday, November 2, at 3 p.m.
This year's concert features the work of Elaine Hagenberg, who is one of the most performed choral composers of the past decade. All music is inspired by our Lord and points directly to His glory and beauty. If you are interested in taking in this special concert, tickets can be purchased at: https://finearts.uky.edu/singletary-center/events/singletary-center-presents-lexington-singers-lexington-singers-childrens.
