Can you believe we're already heading into the first week of October? It's a fantastic time of year, and it also means some wonderful opportunities are ahead for us to jump in and grow—whether it's strengthening our relationships with one another or finding ways to serve our community. This past weekend gave us a great taste of both, and we’ve got the full scoop for you! In this issue, we’ll review our awesome Party with the Pastors event and share a recap of Sunday's service.
Party With The Pastors Was A Huge Hit!
Saturday was absolutely amazing! We had around 40 kiddos and teens hang out together, spending the day learning what it means to live as branches on the vine of Jesus Christ. The kids had a fantastic time with all the activities, including Kickball, beach ball volleyball, hiking trails, canoeing, horseback riding, crafting, and so much more. But the best part of the whole day? Our teens were able to spend the day in one-on-one mentoring with the younger children at our church. It was a beautiful picture of discipleship in action, and everyone had a truly great time!
Sunday Wrapup
We also had a sweet time as we gathered for church on Sunday. Our adult Bible study groups were full! One group continued their study through the book of John, while our other group finished a brief, insightful study on the book of Jonah.
In the worship service, Pastor Chris returned to the book of Luke to look at Jesus' instruction and promise to the Disciples from chapter 22. He reminded us that the way of a disciple is radically different from the way of a non-believer. The Kingdom runs on much different principles than what we know in the flesh. While the world looks to be served, followers of Christ look to serve. We also look forward with great hope toward the promise that one day, Jesus will reward all his followers. If you missed the service, you can catch it anytime on Facebook, YouTube, or our website.
Girls to Women Meet This Week. Guys Will Not.
This Wednesday will be the first Wednesday of the month, which means it's mentorship ministry night at LHF. Our Girls to Women group will meet at the church at 6:30 PM.
Our guys will not meet this Wednesday because they have a campout scheduled a little later this month on the 10th. Guys can sign up for that exciting event on our website!
UP: 24 Hours of Unceasing Prayer is This Thursday
This Thursday, we invite you to join together as we collectively spend the day in prayer for our city and the ministry of the church across our town. The Lord is always moving, and prayer opens our eyes to His hand as well as petitions Him to move. If you would like to sign up for an hour of prayer, you can do so at our website. Or, if you prefer, just remember on Thursday to be in an attitude of prayer throughout the day.
Prayer List This Week
Brenda Caudill: dealing with shingles. Pray for relief and quick recovery.
Janet: a friend of Mrs. Gullet who lost her daughter. Please remember the family as the funeral is this Wednesday.
Gill Family: Traveling back from Pennsylvania this week. Pray for safe travels.
Holmes Family: Pastor Derek and Family will be traveling this weekend. Pray for safety and a blessed time.
Hanna Sue Watkins: Remember to pray for Hannah and Campus Outreach as she continues to minister as a missionary at Eastern Kentucky University.
If you have a prayer need you'd like to share, please contact our Prayer Chain.

We're excited about all that is ahead this week! How can you find a moment to serve or build a relationship with a church member this October?
