LHF This Week: December 14-21, 2025

As we enter the third week of Advent, the week of Joy, we warmly welcome you to this latest issue of LHF This Week. The past seven days have been filled with vibrant activity across our ministries, as we embraced the spirit of the season through Christmas events and meaningful community outreach. From festive gatherings to heartfelt service, this week has truly reflected the joy that comes from coming together in faith and fellowship.

Seniors Celebrate Christmas Together

Our seniors enjoyed a memorable day as they traveled to Paris for their annual Christmas Lunch and Party. The event was graciously hosted by Pam and Charles Parker, who provided a delicious meal that everyone enjoyed. After lunch, the seniors had a White Elephant Gift Exchange, which brought laughter and surprise to the group. This gathering offered a wonderful opportunity for fellowship, allowing seniors to connect, share stories, and celebrate the goodness of our Lord together.

Women's Christmas Brunch Highlights

Despite the chilly weather outside, the Women's Christmas Brunch radiated warmth and festive cheer. Tandy Flynn once again opened her home with generous hospitality, creating a welcoming space for all who attended. The brunch was not only a time for celebration but also for giving back. The ladies packed stockings filled with essentials and small gifts to be distributed through our community outreach programs. This act of kindness helped spread Christmas joy beyond our walls, reminding us all of the true spirit of the season.

LHF Participated in 2025 Toy Project

Our church was proud to participate in the 2025 Toy Project at Grace Baptist in Lexington. On Friday, a dedicated team helped set up and organize the CKNB Toy Store, preparing for the big day. Then, on Saturday, another group from LHF served alongside volunteers from other churches to distribute gifts. This year, 25 families and around 100 children received Christmas presents, bringing smiles and hope to many. Across nine toy store events, nearly 1,200 children were reached through this outreach effort. We extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who volunteered their time and donated gifts, making this year’s project a success.

Worship Wrapup

Our corporate worship service on Sunday brought a powerful message from Pastor Derek. He explored the challenging and often uncomfortable call placed on Mary and Joseph as they prepared to become the earthly parents of Jesus. Their journey was not easy, yet their example teaches us that strength to follow God’s plan comes from trusting in His constant presence. This message resonated deeply with many and offered encouragement for our own faith journeys.

If you missed the service or want to revisit the sermon, you can watch or listen again on our website, YouTube channel, or Facebook page.

Kids & Youth Party Wednesday Night

Our annual Kids and Youth Christmas Party will be this Wednesday Night at GattiTown. Kids should find Jamal at the front when you arrive to get checked in and find which party room we are in. Parents and family are invited to join us for dinner (on us) as well. All kids and youth will be given a game card to enjoy the arcade. DO NOT MISS THIS!

Prayer List

Please keep the following individuals and groups in your prayers this week:

  • John Gill is in the hospital with a blood infection and may require surgery. We pray for healing and strength.

  • William Holmes was born on Tuesday and is doing well. We celebrate this new life.

  • Liam Coffey has returned to the NICU. Please pray for continued strength and health.

  • Debbie Major is recovering from surgery. May her recovery be smooth and swift.

  • Our pastors are preparing for their mission trip to the Philippines in January. Pray for guidance and safety as they serve.

Help Stock The Food Box Shelves

Our Little Red Blessings Food Box has become a great blessing to our community and is being used very frequently. We are currently refilling the box 3-4 times per week. So far, we are finding that the most popular items being taken are crackers, soups, cereals and fresh produce items like potatoes, onions and other more shelf-friendly items. Fresh fruit and fruit cups are also popular. Thanks to all who are helping with this ministry. As you're grocery shopping this week, we invite you to throw a few items in the cart to bring to church on Sunday.

That's it for this week. We told you there was a lot! Have a joyful week as we draw closer to Christmas Day. We'll see you soon.
